ITINERARY6 : THE ETHNIC RAJASTHAN TOUR
13 NIGHTS / 14 DAYS TOUR OF
DELHI – AGRA – JAIPUR – MANDAWA - BIKANER - JAISALMER - JODHPUR - KUMBALGARH - UDAIPUR - DELHI

 

 

Day 01 - Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi by International flight at an early hour. Meet at the airport by our representative and transfer to the hotel (rooms are booked from previous day for immediate occupancy).

Morning - leisure.

Afternoon – proceed for the Combined sightseeing tour of New & Old Delhi. New Delhi is the capital of India and a bustling metropolis. Delhi ’s history dates back to the period of Mahabharat almost 5000 years ago. Delhi has been the seat of power for a very long period. Delhi has much to offer with high rise building well laid tree lined boulevards, rich monumental heritage, concrete flyovers interspersed with well laid gardens, magnificent domes and Victorian buildings.

During the sightseeing tour you will be visiting Qutab Minar, Humayun Tomb, Lotus Temple , Raj Ghat – the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Also during the tour you will drive past The Red Fort, Jama Mashjid, Chandni Chowk , India Gate, Parliament House and President House

Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Delhi – Agra

 

After breakfast around 8.30 a.m – journey by road will start for Agra (220 kms / 4 hours drive). On arrival in Agra , check in to the hotel.

Afternoon – proceed for the sightseeing tour of the city visiting one of the Seven Wonders of the World Taj Mahal with its romantic glory and architectural marvel. This beautifully constructed monument is considered as most symmetrically designed structure. Taj Great Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built Taj Mahal in 1652 for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. It took 22 years to create this jewel. Later visit Agra Fort on the bank of river Yamuna. Four successive Mughal rulers has added on to make this massive Fort with their distinctive different style of architecture.

Evening free for shopping. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 03: Agra – Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur

After breakfast around 7.30 a.m - drive to Jaipur, en-route visiting Fort at Fatehpur Sikri. Once the capital of Mughal Empire, this fort was built by Great third Mughal Emperor Akber. The massive structure was built purely by using Red sandstone. Its fortification and palaces are still in wonderful state of preservation.

Later drive to Jaipur (total distance from Agra is 235 kms / 6 hours drive). On arrival, check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel

Day 04: Jaipur

Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan one of the most colorful state in India . City is also popularly known as Pink City as all the buildings in old city are painted in pink.

After breakfast – proceed for excursion of Amber Fort located on the outskirt of the city. The Fort is remarkable for the majestic grandeur of its surroundings as for its sturdy battlements and beautiful palaces. Since the fort is located on top of a barren hill – it gives a breathtaking view of its surroundings. Also enjoy a joy ride on Elephant to ascend the rampart.

Afternoon – proceed for sightseeing tour of the Pink City visiting City Palace – where the former Maharaja’s family still resides in one part. Rest of the Palace now serves as a Museum. It has a rich collection of Rajput weaponry and treasures of Royal House like textiles, carpets, miniature paintings and precious manuscripts etc. Later visit Jantar Mantar – the astronomical observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh – a great astronomer himself. Finally visit Hawa Mahal ( Palace of Winds ) with its architectural marvel. Later drive past the glittering streets of Jaipur and its bazaar with color and full of activities.

Jaipur is famous for gems, precious and semi precious stone & jewelery, textiles with embroidery and mirror works, Sanganer block printing and carpets. After the sightseeing spend some time for shopping. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 05: Jaipur - Mandawa

Breakfast in the hotel. Later drive to Mandawa (150 kms / 3 hours drive). On arrival, check in to the hotel.

Mandawa is located in the heart of Shekhawati region – often called as the open air art gallery of Rajasthan. The high quality of frescoes on the traditional houses of rich Marwari trader and merchant and typical Rajasthani houses made of sandstone with rich paintings and carvings are the highlight of the region.

On the way from Jaipur – Mandawa visit Nawalgarh another interesting place in Shekhawati region founded in late 17 th century. Its two old forts and palace with garden and fountains along with a host of temples known for their architecture and frescoes add interest to the town.

Afternoon is reserved to visit Mandawa – founded in the 18 th century. The Mandawa Castle – amedieval fort now dominates the town with painted arched gateway adorned with Lord Krishna and his cows. The Chokhani, Ladia and Saraf havelis are some of the splendid examples of this regions haveli’s.

Stay overnight at the hotel.

 Day 06: Mandawa - Bikaner

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Bikaner (210 kms / 4 to 5 hours drive). En- route to Bikaner visit Fatehpur, founded in the mid 15 th century by Fateh Khan. The town is noted for unmatched frescoes and some exquisite havelis. Of particular note among these are the Chamariya and Singhania havelis.

On arrival in Bikaner , check in to the hotel.

Day 07: Bikaner - Jaisalmer

Breakfast in the hotel. Later check out and drive to Jaisalmer (335 kms / 7 hours drive). Arrive Jaisalmer and check in to the hotel.

Rising from the heart of the the Desert like a golden mirage is the city of Jaisalmer . Rest of the day at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 08: Jaisalmer

Breakfast in the hotel. Later proceed for full day sightseeing tour of the city visiting The Fort – is a splendid sight with its yellow sand stone walls and bastions that seems to rise from the golden sands. Inside the fort has an e\nchanting cow – web of narrow lanes dotted with some lovely havelis, three beautifully sculpture Jain temples of 12 – 15 th century A.D and five interconnected palaces. Other interesting places are Gadsisar lake, Tazia Tower – pagoda like structure and various havelis most important one are Nathmalji ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli with exquisitely carved pillars and extensive corridors and chambers.

Evening – experience the exhilarating camel ride at Sam – the golden sand dunes outside the city to get a feel of desert life and spectacular sunset. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Evening – take a leisurely boat ride on Lake Pichola . Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 09: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur

Breakfast in the hotel. Later drive to Jodhpur (320 kms / 6 hours drive). On arrival, check in to the hotel.

Set at the edge of the Thar desert , the imperial city of Jodhpur echoes with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert. Once the capital of Marwar state, Rao Jodha founded it in 1459 A.D.

Afternoon – proceed for the city sightseeing tour visiting massive 15 th century A.D fort of Mehrangarh – the 5 km long on a hight of 125 m hill is one of the most impressive and formidable structures. Almost invincible from the outside, the fort has four gates approached by winding road. With in the fort are some magnificent palaces with marvelously carved panels, latticed window. Also visit Jaswant Thada – a cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble built in 1899 A.D in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.

Evening – leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Kumbalgarh

Breakfast in the hotel. Later check out from the hotel and drive to Kumbalgarh (280 kms / 5 hours).

En-route to Kumbalgarh visit Ranakpur – renowned for some marvelously carved Jain temples in amber stone, set in seclusion in the middle of Aravali Hills. The cluster of temples made of intricately sculpted on white marble come across as a marvelous feat of architecture. These temples were built in 1460 A.D, the main temple is supported on 1444 pilars – non of which is similarly carved.

Later on drive to Kumbalgarh and check in to the hotel.

Afternoon – visit Kumbalgarh Fort – which is the second principal fortress in Rajasthan after Chittorgarh, it is perched a top of hill of Aravali range of mountain. Built in 15 th century it extends over 12 km and encloses many temples, palaces and gardens. The fort was renovated in the 19 th century. The Badal Mahal or cloud palace offers a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside.

Evening – relax and enjoy in this secluded region. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Kumbalgarh - Udaipur

Breakfast in the hotel. Later take a jeep excursion from your hotel nearby Kumbalgarh Wild Life sanctuary with a rich variety of wildlife.

Afternoon – return to hotel for check out and finally to drive down to Udaipur (84 kms /1.30 hrs drive). On arrival in Udaipur , check in to the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 12: Udaipur

Breakfast in the hotel. Later proceed for the sightseeing tour of the city.

Udaipur is called as The Venice of East since the entire city has come up on the bank twin lakes of Pichola and Fateh Sagar. The City Palace and other Royal building give a fairy tale look and each are more beautiful than the others. During your sightseeing visit City Palace in all its ancient glory, the residence of the Maharaja of Udaipur. It has several carved balconies, arches and decorated pillars. One can get a breathtaking view of lake Pichola from any of the pavilions. Later visit Jag Mandir and finally on to Sahelion ki Bari or the Gardens of Maids of honour famous for its spectacular lawns, fountains and shady walks. Evening – take a leisurely boat ride on Lake Pichola.

Stay overnight at the hotel

Day 13: Udaipur – Delhi

Breakfast in the hotel. Later transfer to the airport for morning flight back to Delhi. Arrive Delhi . Meet at the airport and transfer to a transit hotel.

Day 14: Leave Delhi
